Referring to the movie “Star Wars”, one of the most notable quotes said by Yoda was “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
From my point of view, whenever we fear something, such as when things don’t go well or don’t reach our expectations, this fear will eventually transform into anger. So based on this analogy, the origin of the feeling of anger can be “fear for things not going my way.”
In situations wherein our expectations towards people are not met, we tend to become disappointed and therefore are prone to start developing hatred towards those people who fail our expectations.
This downward spiral definitely hurts us mentally and emotionally. It’s really easy for humans to become negative, in a blink of an eye, because people are generally selfish and have difficulty getting over negative events in life.
So if we want to release ourselves from this downward spiral, we should master our emotions and become strong enough to run away from darkness, or in other words, “let go of our expectations, especially the most unrealistic ones.” Live freely, and don’t let disappointments weigh you down.
